MEC is a multidisciplinary development technical consultancy operating nationally across the UK. We work with private and public sector clients on a wide range of residential, commercial and public sector developments, delivering joined-up technical expertise across multiple disciplines.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Group team, reporting directly to the Managing Director. The role location is flexible, to be based from our Leicestershire, Birmingham or Nottingham office.
This is a senior, client-facing role, suited to someone who thrives on coordination, clarity and delivery, and who enjoys being at the centre of complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
In this role, you will take ownership of large and complex projects, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards are met, while acting as a key link between internal teams, clients, directors and external stakeholders. You’ll play an important role in shaping how project management operates across the business, helping to embed consistency, best practice and momentum as MEC continues to grow. You should ideally have a technical related background with relevant experience in dealing with projects involving, Transport, Flood Risk, Drainage, Utilities and GI.

Key Responsibilities
As Project Manager, your responsibilities will span project delivery, client management and internal coordination, including:
Overseeing and coordinating the delivery of large or complex projects across multiple internal disciplines
Managing a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and public sector projects
Working closely with the Project Director to maintain project programmes, budgets and quality standards
Acting as a key liaison between clients, internal teams, directors and third-party stakeholders
Chairing and attending client, consultant and design team meetings
Providing clear, concise project updates and managing client expectations throughout delivery
Developing and maintaining detailed project execution plans, including timelines, budgets and resource allocation
Identifying risks and challenges early, coordinating internal discussions and driving solutions
Supporting the development and implementation of a consistent, company-wide project management system
Managing submissions for third-party approvals, liaising proactively with clients, authorities and external bodies
Agreeing fee proposals, managing timescales and maintaining regular internal and external communication
Working nationally across the UK, with flexibility to support projects as required
Playing a senior role in the development of the project management function, including mentoring future team members
Project Management and Delivery
Managing projects across multiple disciplines and sectors
Client liaison, fee proposals, budgeting, resourcing and invoicing
Ensuring high-quality, technically accurate outputs are delivered on time and within budget
Adhering to company quality procedures, including two-stage checking processes
Managing project finances and monitoring performance against agreed budgets
Professional and General Responsibilities
Alongside project delivery, you will be expected to uphold MEC’s professional standards and values:
Completing a minimum of 12 days CPD per year in line with your training and development plan
Working collaboratively with colleagues across all disciplines
Demonstrating full commitment to company values, customer service commitments and the Customer Charter
Adhering to all quality, health & safety, psychosocial and environmental policies
Maintaining accurate WIP, invoicing and resource tracking in line with monthly deadlines
Keeping timesheets and expenses up to date and submitted on time
Proactively supporting client care and following up fee quotes monthly
Representing MEC positively at all times, reinforcing our services and expertise
Supporting internal engagement, including contributing to staff meetings and business updates
Holding a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
